| We’re updating Picks to make it easier to understand who you can select, how to qualify for rewards and what determines your payout.

Picks is getting simpler

The format of Picks isn’t changing: you’ll still select five players, choose a Captain and compete against other managers in your division. The changes are focused on removing some of the pain points managers experienced during the first version of Picks.

One clear target: beat your division average

Under the current system, your Picks Bonus depends partly on individual players in your lineup finishing in rewarded positions. This can make the connection between your overall Picks performance and your final reward difficult to follow.

We’re replacing this with a clearer target: Beat the average Picks score in your division to qualify for a reward.

Your complete Picks lineup will determine whether you qualify. Managers who score above their division average will qualify, while managers who score at or below it will not.

How far you finish above the average will matter too. Qualifying managers will receive different performance weights based on their final position in the division, with the strongest performances receiving the greatest reward weight.

This will make rewards more closely reflect your overall Picks performance. A great differential selection can still help you beat the average or finish near the top of your division, but rewards will no longer depend on individual Picks reaching separate re

| Ahead of the new season, we've made a number of refinements to the scoring system.

Improving the scoring model

Our aim wasn't to fundamentally reshape player values or change the way the game is played. Instead, we've focused on making scores better reflect the moments that have the biggest impact on a football match.

Our goals were simple:

Reward meaningful football actions more consistently.
Avoid overly harsh penalties for positive attacking play.
Reduce the influence of routine actions.
Give greater emphasis to decisive moments, creative play and match-defining defensive actions.
Better reflect the unique contribution of goalkeepers.
Maintain the overall balance of player values and tournament outcomes.

What's changed?

Some of the key changes include:

Goals have been given greater emphasis to better reflect their importance in deciding football matches, while ensuring the wider scoring model remains balanced.
Goalkeepers have been rebalanced to reward decisive actions such as commanding the area, sweeping and making important saves, while routine actions contribute less.
The first goal conceded no longer carries a points penalty, avoiding the double impact of both conceding points and losing the clean sheet reward.
Passing has been rebalanced to place greater emphasis on progressive passes into the final third, while routine possession contributes slightly less.

How does Football scoring work?

| Football players earn and lose points from real match events. Some actions carry the same points across all positions, some have different weighting depending on where the player plays.

The Sport.fun scoring model rewards the full range of contributions players make on the pitch - from goals and assists to tackles, interceptions, key passes and goalkeeper actions.

Decisive actions carry the greatest rewards, while routine actions contribute more modestly - this helps scores reflect both the statistics and what fans see on the pitch.

Scoring is the same across the free to play and Pro versions of Football.

How scoring works

Scores are calculated using official match data supplied by Opta, which records and classifies each action.
Points vary by position. The matrix below shows the total points awarded for each action, not additional position bonuses.
Some actions stack (score in more than one category). For example, a midfielder completing an accurate pass in the final third also scores for an accurate pass in the opposition half, earning 0.75 points in total: 0.50 + 0.25.
In cup matches, scoring continues until the end of extra time. Actions during a penalty shoot-out do not count.

|| Live scores may change if Opta updates or corrects the underlying match data. Scores are finalised at midnight UTC following the final match of the tournament.

What is Sport.fun?

| Sport.fun is a fantasy sports trading game. You build a squad or roster by signing player shares, compete in tournaments scored by real match data, and earn rewards based on where you finish.

Sport.fun runs in two modes: Free to Play (free, global, off-chain) and Pro (real-stakes, non-custodial, on-chain on Base). Football is live in both modes. NFL is Pro only.

How it works

Instead of choosing a new fantasy team for every competition, you build a longer-term squad by signing shares in real players. Prices move with demand, while tournament results are determined by real match data.

Choose a game. Football is available in Free to Play and Pro. NFL is available in Pro.
Sign player shares. Build a squad or roster of players you think will perform well.
Compete. Eligible players enter tournaments and score points from their real performances.
Earn rewards. The rewards you receive depend on the game you are playing and how well your players perform.
Strengthen your squad. Reinvest your rewards and keep building over time.

How do I sign, swap or release football players?

| Signing and releasing shares is how you build and adjust your squad. Sign shares to back players you think will perform. Release shares to free up Gold and rebalance.

Key terms

Sign - add shares in a player to your squad.
Release - sell player shares for Gold, removing them from your squad.
Swap - release shares in one player and sign shares in another in a single action.

On the Player page you can:

Sign, release or swap shares for a specific player.
See their price, upcoming fixtures and recent performance. You can always access a player's page by clicking on their name, wherever you see them in the app.

How to sign shares

Go to the Transfers page and find the player you want.
Click on them to open their player page and select Sign.
Choose how much Gold to spend, or use the two arrows in the middle to choose how many shares to sign.
Review the price and fee shown, then click Sign Now to confirm the trade.

How do Pro football tournament rewards work?

| Tournaments take place twice a week. If your players perform well, you can win TP to open player packs and upgrade your squad.

Which players earn tournament rewards?

Players compete against others in the same position. The highest-scoring players in each tournament earn a share of the tournament reward pool:

The top five defenders
The top five midfielders
The top five forwards
The top three goalkeepers

What is the reward pool?

The total reward pool is shown in the app on the Live page. Tournament rewards in Pro are Tournament Points (TP) which you can use to buy player packs.

70% of the TP pool goes to the highest-scoring players in each position, the remaining 30% goes to Picks.

The table below shows how the 70% player tournament allocation is divided between the rewarded positions:

How do I qualify for rewards?

Hold shares in a player before they enter the pitch to qualify. Your share of a placing player’s reward depends on the number of eligible shares you hold compared with the total eligible shares held by everyone in that player.
